The Chargers were only a doubles win away from taking the match.
Cypress, Calif. - The
Chargers started strong against El Camino, with straight-set victories in the No. 2, 3 and 4
singles spots. The Chargers dropped their matches in the No. 1, 5 and 6 spots to tie the match at 3-3 heading into doubles play.
Cypress fell 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles match, but the No. 2 team of
Theresa Roque and Nadine Baquiran answered back with an 8-6 victory in their.
With the game tied at 4-4, it was all up to the No. 3 doubles team to win it, or lose it for Cypress College. Sharnen Chorn and Breanna Posvar blew a 6-4 lead in that match, and would go on to lose 8-6, and give El Camino (3-0)
a 5-4 non-conference victory.
Cypress heads up to Northern California this weekend for a match on Friday against Fresno City College, and a match against host Ventura on Saturday morning.
